Joint concert, Leyland Band are looking forward to our first joint venture with Stockport Schools Brass Band.

We are delighted to be welcoming SSBB (the Youth Brass Band for Stockport) and the
renowned Leyland Band to St Georges for a joint concert on Saturday 26th March.

Stockport Schools Brass Band (SSBB) is the Brass Ensemble provision in Stockport, Greater Manchester. They provide opportunities for players in the Stockport area to learn to play a brass instrument and to play in one of bands. They take players from the age of 6 years to 19 years old irrespective of ability. Their ensembles showcase some of the best young brass musicians of the future.
The first half of the concert will be performances
by each of the SSBB bands, which will showcase
the talented young musicians from across
Stockport.
The second half will be Leyland Band followed by
a massed band item with over 70 players joining
to perform an arrangement of the beautiful hymn
Deep Harmony (Sweet is the work, my God, my
King).

LEYLAND BAND OPEN NEW CONCERT SEASON in

PARBOLD, LANCASHIRE on SATURDAY 24 SEPTEMBER, 7.45pm

Gershwin and The Roaring ‘20s with David Daniels, piano

Parbold Douglas Music’s 2022/23 season opens with a very welcome return visit from one of the country’s finest brass ensembles, The Leyland Band. The multi-award-winning group will perform a joyful selection of music on the theme of The Roaring ‘20s, from Irving Berlin to Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Well-known favourites such as Anything Goes and Singin’ in the Rain, plus a performance of Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue performed by pianist David Daniels, are certain to give the 2022/23 season the rousing start it deserves.

All concerts take place at Parbold Village Hall WN8 7DN [Free parking] where Parbold Douglas Music presents an annual series of concerts featuring world class musicians. The Auditorium boasts an impressively intimate concert hall where audiences can get thrillingly close to performers.

Grab your picnic hamper and Union Jack flags and head down to the centre Preston park and raise a toast to His Majesty The King.

From 10:00am to 4:00pm visitors are invited to tuck into butter pies, quiche and a glass of fizz while taking in live music and performances from Leyland Band 10 piece ensemble, One Voice Community Choir, Preston City Mela, Caribbean Carnival, and singer Hattie Bee.

There will also be fairground rides and stalls from Preston Market. Just don’t forget your picnic blanket.
