Principal Players
Principal Cornet – Lewis Barton
Lewis Barton is the most exciting brass talent in a generation, became Principal Cornet of Leyland Band in January 2024.
Lewis’ achievements to date are already an extensive list, having been awarded Best Soloist at the British Open Youth Championships in 2019, he followed that up in 2020 by winning the Harry Mortimer Solo Competition and in 2022 being judged the best soloist at both the Dr Martins Entertainment Competition and Blackpool’s Spring Festival Competition.
He has gained great acclaim as Principal Cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).

Solo Horn – Rebecca Doyle
Rebecca Doyle is without doubt one of the finest tenor horn players around. She has excelled as the Principal Horn of Leyland Band since 2011.
Rebecca began learning to play at the age of five. She became a member of the National Youth Band of Great Britain in 2003. There, she gained fantastic experience under the leadership of Elgar Howarth and Howard Snell amongst others.
Studying music at the Royal College of Music (RNCM), Rebecca gained a First Class Honours Degree. She was also awarded the prestigious title of Harry Mortimer Brass Student of the Year whilst at the RNCM.
As a qualified music teacher, she works with Blackpool Music Service and Red Admiral Music Academy. Rebecca is also one of our many sought after brass tutors.
