Leyland are looking forward to performing again with the talented Houghton Area Youth Band  (HAYB)in Durham on the 30th September 2017. The gala concert in the established venue for North East bands, the Elvet Church will follow workshops led by Leyland’s renowned tutors.

HAYB and Leyland first joined forces in 2015 on the eve of the Brass In Concert Championships, again holding player workshops followed by a successful concert in Sunderland Minster. The next step in strengthening the links between both bands is this new stand alone event. The HAYB celebrate 44 years of music making and player development,  and is made of around 30 young players between the ages of 6 and 18.

Leyland Band Principal Euphonium James McLeod is one the most high profile exponents of HAYB, and is delighted to be able to give them opportunity to benefit from learn and perform with Leyland in a follow up to the 2015 event.

Conductors Thomas Wyss and Brian Adams will lead both bands in solo sets and a thrilling joint finale. Watch out for details of the workshops coming up.
