The band’s first concert outing following the success at the North West Area competition, is a trip over the Pennines to appear in the Best of Brass series in Morley Town Hall, Leeds.
Leyland conducted by Thomas Wyss, present a trademark eclectic variety of music in one of our favourite venues and audience. There’s a definite movies influence after the Oscars were awarded last weekend, and music also from Elgar and Berlioz.
James Nash, Leyland’s soprano cornet player and Principal Trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain will perform Aratunian’s fantastic Trumpet Concerto – the first time Leyland have performed this work. James, having excelled in the band’s performance in the North West Area competition is also progressing in the current heats of the BBC Young Brass Musician competition.
