Leyland welcome Lancashire Youth Brass Band to Matinee II

The second concert in the 2017 Matinee Concert Series features guests and firm friends of Leyland Band, the Lancashire Youth Brass Band.

LYBB are making their second appearance in the Matinee Concert series having made a great impression in their debut in 2016. Under the direction of Helen Minshall, LYBB will open the concert with a twenty minute solo set, and once again join Leyland on stage for the concert finale.

Leyland Band are taking the opportunity to present some of the music we will feature in Innsbruck, to our loyal local audience. Conductor Thomas Wyss has chosen a first half including some Strauss and Mozart, and some spectacular movie themes feature in the second.

Trumpets Times Two

Iain Culross, fresh his highly successful solo trip to Australia will take to the trumpet to perform a movement from Haydn’s famous trumpet concerto. Not t be outdone, John Doyle will swap his flugel for trumpet in the song made famous by Barbara Streisand, People.

Tutors join in LYBB rehearsal

Ahead of the concert, Leyland principals Iain Culross, James McLeod and Chris Doran worked with LYBB in their rehearsal on Saturday 6th May, and were very impressed with the young players enthusiasm.
