Leyland placed 6th in order of merit, with a stunning performance of “A Brussels Requiem“.

2018 British Open

In, what Richard Evans described as the highest standard British Open in many years where all the competing bands produced commendable performances of the set work by Bert Appermont, Leyland’s fantastic performance and Thomas Wyss’s brilliant reading earned a place on the top 6 order of merit. Our congratulations go to the winners Cory Band.

The draw saw Leyland perform last out of 19 of the worlds top bands, including a Swiss and Norwegian band, both of whom also made it into the top six. Completing the first six were the Brighouse & Rastrick and Black Dyke bands.

Band chairman Chris Doran collected the award, and was proud of the band’s efforts in returning to the prizes at the Open for the 1st time in 3 years.
