It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Band President, Richard Evans.

Richard was widely regarded as one of the most charismatic and dynamic brass band conductors in the world.

At the beginning of 1978, Richard was recruited to rebuild the Leyland Vehicles Band with the specific remit of achieving Championship status within three years. Under Richard’s guidance, the band made history with a meteoric rise through the brass band leagues. And in doing that he firmly established Leyland Band as a first class concert band in the UK and abroad.

Everyone connected to Leyland Band will miss his friendship, inspiration and guidance.

In time we will mark his amazing presence in an appropriate event.
