Leyland Band is delighted to announce that Thomas Wyss has agreed to become their full time Musical Director with immediate effect.
As well as conducting all of Leyland’s concerts, he will be leading the band at the British Open in September and the Brass in Concert championships in Gateshead later in the year.
The well known Swiss tuba star leaves a very long standing and successful period behind him at Northop Band, which culminated in them once again qualifying for the National Finals in London this October.
We are delighted Thomas has agreed to join Leyland Band. We have worked with him numerous times in the last few years on concerts, recordings and most notably in our preparations for the European Championships in Oslo. His drive, energy, professionalism, and above all his musicality make him the ideal choice to lead the band into a new period of success.
Thomas’ first engagement in his new capacity will at Chorley Town Hall on May 17th as part of Leyland’s established and highly successful annual four concert series at the venue.
Thomas says of his appointment: “I am delighted to accept this exciting appointment. Having worked with the band in recent years, I know them to be a professioinal and hardworking group of musicians, and I am very much looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
