June is Festival month for Leyland

Prescot FestivalAs well as a home town festival, the month of June will see Leyland Band grace two more diverse and exciting festivals.

The first of those will be a debut appearance by the band at the well established Prescot Music Festival on the 16th June. A popular mix of music is on offer with a good selection of items that featured in the “Brassed Off” movie, including the famous “Concerto D’Arunjuez” and the finale from the “William Tell Overture“.

In the build up to the bands trip to Innsbruck in July, the program will also a number of pieces to be performed in Austria, including the overture to the “Magic Flute“. Principal cornet, Iain Culross fresh from his travels to the USA will showcase a solo new to the band, “Before The Cross“.

The following day, 17th June Leyland have by special request been asked to head up the its home town celebrations in the Leyland Festival 2017. A free event sprawling through the heart of the town, Leyland will perform a selection of marches and film music to fit this years festival theme.

And the following week, Leyland will return for the third time to the “Live At St Wilfild’s” festival. Held in a wonderfully intimate church setting in the village of Grappenhall, the festival hosts a range of artists throughout the year.
