Leyland Band – Let the festivities begin!
The festive period is upon us and Leyland Band are looking forward to a busy and varied schedule.
Three Festive Brass concerts and our annual get together with Warrington Make Voice Choir to present Christmas Voices and Christmas Brass at the Parr Hall, Warrington, and our traditional home town festive concert make it a great season. Click posters for more information
Following Leyland’s 10 piece sell out concert in Tatham at the end of November, the festive season begins with Festive Brass, concert 4 of the 2016 Matinee Concert Series, on the 4th December. The 2016 series has been the most successful ever, and joining Leyland Band for the 2017 series will be the Lancashire Youth Band, the University of Central Lancashire Chamber Choir and the Red Admirals Music Academy.
Lancashire Youth Band will also feature this Christmas when we take Festive Brass to Ormskirk Civic Hall for the first time on the 17th December. Bringing together Lancashire’s fine young players with Leyland’s great band at Christmas will be a great experience for all. Featuring some wonderful seasonal melodies in a fun concert, both bands are enjoying closer ties since the first link up in concert 1 of the 2016 Matinee Concert series, when the bands performed a lovely Romance In Brass program.
Youth will also be in abundance when Leyland’s fantastic “Brass Attack” series makes its first Christmas bow. Leyland will be joined in concert by school bands and Lostock Hall Memorial Band at Lostock Hall Academy on 19th December.
Leyland will once again join up with the wonderful Warrington Male Voice Choir for a truly festive show in the Parr Hall, Warrington. Our long association with the choir provides a unique bond which translates to a great combination on the concert platform.
The concert will again be expertly presented by Bob Williams.
Band and choir will combine again in January when we will record a festive CD for release at Christmas 2017. The recording will feature a great selection of festive favourites from both band and choir as well as some fun joint items.
The band’s traditional home Christmas concert in support of the Mayor Of South Ribble Charities is always a special event. This year the charities being supported are St Catherine’s Hospice, Heartbeat (NW), and Galloways Society for the Blind.
In between all this, Leyland’s Fanfare team will also be performing at the University of Central Lancashire Winter Graduation Ceremonies. All in all a busy and exciting December awaits!
